Fishing in the Desert??? Who would have guessed! This was one of the first adventures the FishingFatGuy's was on together. When Jason asked John if he wanted to go to Vegas for a weekend get-a-way, John's Response was; ‘Only if you can catch me a fish in the desert!' low-and-behold Jason found fishvegas.com.

Captain Michael Schwartz is an experienced angler for this ever changing body of water. The largest impoundment in the United States has been dropping in level of the last 7-8 year. This has not, however, adversely affected the fishing. As Captain Michael says “… When lake levels drop dramatically, the answer to fishing is easy. The fish simply move to new areas. They don't disappear, they don't quit eating, they just move, and the savvy angler moves with them. The more difficult question is – where are they moving to?

Lake bottom contours and structure have to be re-learned. Areas that were 150 feet deep may now only be 50 feet deep. Peaks, valleys and humps you only glanced at on your depth finder four years ago, now become critical habitat. Islands appear to grow out of the water, and main channel migration routes have changed. Quality electronics and the ability to interpret the signals become a necessity. But seasonal catch methods remain the same. ” If you are in Vegas and looking to catch a fish, FishingFatGuys are not worried about losing everything to the house when you're on the water with Captain Michael Schwartz.

Looking for something other than the typical ‘trolling of the bowling ball' for Spring Stripers in the Bay, Three enlisted the help of Max from BassFever to recommend Captain Jerry Cercen for a day of light tackle for big fish on the Susquehanna flats. Captain Jerry did a reel nice job of putting FishingFatGuys on several 10 plus pound fish in the shallows of the grass flats. This day reminded FishingFatGuys more of the flats of South Biscayne Bay , then of the Northern Chesapeake Bay .

Captain Jerry is set up on a 20 foot Ranger which can handle two FishingFatGuys in comfort we added a third on this day, just keep Joe away from the fly gear.  Jerry is set up for all levels and age groups and enjoys showing children the ABC's of fishing, taking disabled persons when possible and proving that fishing is not just for men!

Captains Jay and Evan Jawitz do a nice job when it comes to fishing the waters of Miami . Evan favors offshore and Jay specializes in In-shore Fishing. We have fished many times successfully with Jay in North and South Biscayne Bay . Fishing for and catching our first Bone Fish in the Shadows of the Miami Skyline. On days when the weather Gods will not allow Fishing on the open waters, Jay has the ‘Urban' Jungle canal system, up his sleeve. Don't be turned off by this non-traditional fishery… It has produced Tarpon, Trophy Snook, Trout and the occasional utterance of Bahamian spilling from Jay's mouth.

Based from Key West , Steve comes with the recommendation of the esteemed Jose Wejebe (Spanish Fly). Steve guides for Tarpon, Snook, Bonefish and Permit. Steve also does some creative fishing in the wintertime in the channels for Snapper, Grouper and Jacks.

This past year, Steve helped Joe catch his first Permit on a warm day in the flats off Key West . Some say, that number 3 stole the fish from number 1 by pushing him from the fishing platform. The convening authority found no evidence to support that theory and number three “ain't talking.”

It is a rare occasion when the FishingFatGuys give an Outstanding on the first time with a Guide; this one deserves every bit of it. I have to say, we did not catch a fish on this outing, we did however, experience some of the most pristine ocean flats we have ever seen. Bermuda offers some of the most beautiful, under-fished water we have laid a line in. Captain James gave us all of the chances to put several large fish in the boat, however, neither John or I could connect.

Sad to say, we may never have the chance again to fish these waters… Rest in Peace Captain James.

Last Date Fished: 15-16 October 2009

Days Fished: 5-6 Total

FishingFatGuys: John, Jason and Guest

Rating: Outstanding

Wright is an extremely knowledgeable of the water surrounding Marco and has the ability to tailor your trip to meet just about any expectation. One additional characteristic which Wright offers is his ability to understand individual skill sets and work within those parameters. Simply put whether you're hardcore and experienced or the novice looking to enjoy your first outing, Wright will provide a day on the water full of life time memories.

During our recent trip The FatGuys have enjoyed good catches of snook, redfish, jacks and ladyfish both on fly and spinning gear. One afternoon on this adventure, Wright put us onto a group of tarpon chasing bait over a flat. Excitement was in the air, big fish rolling and feeding everywhere a few hook ups but once again the “silver king” was a worthy opponent and the FatGuys failed to land a fish. Just one more reason to head back to Marco, visit with Wright and live the dream of fishing!

Rating: Outstanding

Al is considered by the FatGuys as the ‘special forces' of Marco fishing. On a recent day on the water Al's can do attitude and relentless drive was witnessed firsthand. While fishing the shoreline of mangrove stands all that could be heard echoing across the back country was “if I can see them, you can catch'em”! Busting aside Al's understanding of techniques and his competitive edge learned while fishing professionally on the Redfish Circuit helps anglers become better at their craft. Al combines humor, fishing techniques and encouragement to provide a wonderful learning experience for his clients while enjoying the beauty and tranquility of Marco's back country.
